Up in the Air is Jason Reitman's realization of a decade-old dream. It's based on a book he found 10 years ago and wanted to produce and feels, because Juno and other things intervened that he has a new chance to do it and is now doing it now. I think that it was a great idea that things got stalled. The universe really worked it out in his favor. George Clooney has never been better as a single man with no ties who fires people, is the hired gun that is flown in to fire people. It's his best role. The talking heads who talk about being fired who are actual people who are found through Craigslist ad in the Detroit area. It has particular resonance now. It's actually a very thought-provoking, good movie. Vera Farmigna has never been sexier, and this is a really good movie. Four stars.
