The nerd gets the hot chick  in this  raunchy but sweet  comedy that steals from both Judd Apatow and The Farrelly Brothers.  At the center is Jay Baruchel  who , surprise (!) starred in  Apatow’s “Knocked Up”  plus “Nick and Nora’s Infinite Playlist”.  He can’t believe a  gorgeous, successful blonde falls for him and nearly sabotages the relationship with his low self-esteem.  You could almost hear him bowing down to her saying “I’m not worthy! I’m not worthy!”

While the only nudity are male bare butts (I swear0 they must have to sign a rider requiring it- and Baruchel uses a butt-double)  almost every character  lays the f-bomb  numerous  times.  There’s  no new territory conquered here.  The manscaping scene  borrows from  the waxing  in “The 40 Year Old Virgin” and isn’t nearly as funny. The funniest  scene:  he suffers from premature-e  just as he meets her parents  for the first time. Very Farrelly of first-time director Jim Field Smith. Some nice touches:  giving hockey some love and casting “That 70’s Show” mom Debra Jo Rupp as  his mom.

If nothing else, this film keeps hope alive for nerdy guys everywhere.
